Noosa & Surrounds

One of the world’s classic seaside holiday destinations, Noosa has something for everyone: perfect surfing conditions, authentic Australian bushland, golden beaches and an endless variety of boutique shopping and dining experiences, including on famous Hastings Street. It’s a magnet for holidaymakers, sea changers, retirees and everyone who dreams of a relaxed, sun-filled lifestyle.

Noosa’s beaches offer amazing variety, from the safe, calm waters of Laguna Bay in downtown Noosa to the surf beaches to the north and south. Noosa is a World Surfing Reserve, recognising the region’s environmental and cultural significance, and surfers come from around the world to surf the breaks, especially during the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing.

Noosa Main Beach

Noosa Main Beach is one of the few beaches on Australia’s open coastline to face north. Protected by the forested Noosa Headland, it’s the ideal spot for families and less-confident swimmers, offering gentle waves and patrolled year-round by surf lifesavers. It’s a great place to learn to surf or do some kayaking or boogie boarding, or to take a short walk to Noosa National Park with its dense native vegetation and spectacular wildlife.

To the north and south of the town stretch beaches with something for everyone. There are patrolled and non-patrolled beaches, surf beaches, dog-off-leash beaches, beaches for fishing and beaches for just enjoying the fabulous views.

Noosa Waters

Noosa Waters is Noosa’s main residential suburb and within walking distance of the cafes and boutiques of Hastings Street. It’s the ultimate lifestyle suburb, full of big, modern, waterfront homes, most with canal frontages. It’s an ideal spot for those who want easy access to the hustle and bustle of downtown Noosa and a quiet, stylish location to lay back and relax.

Peregian Beach

Peregian Beach has been described as ‘a super-chilled village bounded by pristine beaches, national parks and picturesque lakes’.

The shady town square is encircled by trendy cafes, fashion stores and gift stores, offering eclectic, cutting-edge stuff. The beachfront park has an excellent skatepark and children’s playground and twice-monthly markets, followed by Peregian Originals, an afternoon of live music that has become one of the Sunshine Coast’s best-loved regular events. On the western side of Peregian Beach is Lake Weyba National Park, and Lake Weyba itself, which feeds into the estuary at Noosa Heads.

Sunshine Beach

Once known as Golden Beach, Sunshine Beach is a relaxed, residential coastal suburb to the south of Noosa National Park. It’s renowned for its sand-and-surf lifestyle supported by stylish boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Sunshine Beach offers:

  • great local surf breaks and a year-round patrolled beach
  • popular cafes and restaurants along Duke Street that attract visitors and locals alike
  • boutiques, surf shops and gift shops, where you’ll usually find something different
  • a fabulous experience on the deck of the surf club, overlooking the ocean – spot dolphins and whales, listen to live music, enjoy a meal or just relax with a cold drink.
